With its colonial style architecture, this house declared a National Monument since it was inhabited by Christopher Columbus and the remains of Master José Alejandro Morales. This house was founded in 1954 by historian which bears his name. With its Colonial style architecture was the home of the Spanish Government, but previous years belonged to the family Pereira Mejía; these, giving it as a gift and then become inhabited by the Governor Lucas González, who gave condemns our heroine Antonia Santos happening there the last night. Mr. José María de la Pasión Rueda and Gomez, better known as The Count of Cuchicute was owner and Lord of the former hacienda Majavita, this great character was very important in the Comunera and Guanentina province. Before his death he ordered that he be buried standing and since the said thus arrive faster to heaven or paradise, for this reason we find in the hacienda a structure of pyramidal form which is the representation of his grave, his desire .

Today, Majavita hacienda is in charge of the Free University of Colombia sectional Socorro, which performs different projects for ecological site development, among other activities.


This work started in 1873 and completed almost entirely in 1943 with BastardaItalica Tuscan Renaissance style. Its structure made of carved stone, the altar, made of fine Carrara marble brought from the province of Luca-Italy. The picture of Our Lady of Socorro, developed in the year 1650 in Seville-Spain by sculptor painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo; its frame is crafted in silver and made in Paris. The nave is adorned by fine rock crystal lamps and Brazen Brass. This church was consecrated by Bishop Aníbal Muñoz Duque in 1950.


The convent of San Juan Bautista Capuchin Fathers with its architectural acetate colony was the first Capuchin monastery. Its construction started in the year 1786 and finished stop July 24 of 1795. Its structure entirely in stone in its center we find a finely carved stone, this great building has two floors with two cloistered courtyards. 1800 was a strong Spanish refuge and prison, later served as educational institutions, reaching 1884 Works Regional Hospital San Juan de Dios.

With a colonial architecture, this temple established as a parish in 1779, and being there where heroin Antonia Santos received his last rites before being shot in the year 1819. This was the first diocese of the municipality in the year from 1879 to 1928.
